Amid the legions of those who want to preen and be seen in this wealthy coastal town, trotting along in the midst all the big stars, filmmaker wannabes and over-the-top fashionistas is a whole other breed of eager festival-goer.

Call it the official dog of the Cannes Film Festival. Jack Russell Terriers are the overwhelming dog of choice when it comes to this French Riviera city. Every second or third Cannes-ine appears to be one of this low-slung, friendly brown and white variety. The French have always been known as dog-lovers as well as big on stylish accessories. Owning this little stocky pooch seems to be as trendy as rhinestone studded stilettos on the red carpet.
