According to Vulture, David O. Russell, director of the Oscar nominated 'The Fighter,' has high hopes for Spears and thinks that her "great entertainer" status on stage could translate to film.
"I think Britney could be great in a lot of different things, and I'm a huge fan of hers," Russell said.
Russell has even auditioned Spears for film roles in the past. And although she wasn't among those vying for a spot in 'The Fighter,' "she could have played one of the sisters when she was in her rough period, but not now."
But the 'Till The World Ends' singer isn't the only one who has Russell singing their praises -- the director would also like to work with Johnny Depp, Cher, Jack White and Rihanna.
According to Russell, with the above talent it would be hard to make a bad flick: "Sounds like you can't go wrong with those people right there. Just add camera and stir."
But Russell isn't only a fan of the femme fatale's on-screen potential. He's also a fan of her music.
"I went to the Circus concert," he said. "I think she's a great entertainer."
Do you think Spears should get into character or stick to what she knows best?
