Colorado man walking on Hollywood Freeway killed by car

HOLLYWOOD - A 35-year-old man from Colorado walked onto the Hollywood (101) Freeway and was fatally struck near Cahuenga Boulevard late Saturday.

The accident in southbound lanes near the Hollywood Bowl happened just before 11 p.m.

Saturday, according to the CHP, which closed part of the freeway and issued a SigAlert.

The man, whose name was being withheld until his next of kin could be told, was reported wearing a tan "hoodie" and backpack in northbound lanes moments before he was struck on the southbound side of the freeway by a Mini Cooper, according to the CHP.

The body was turned over to coroner's investigators, said CHP Officer Patrick Kimball, who said the man was believed to be a transient.
