It?s official. Joseph Gordon-Levitt will star in the final Batman film: The Dark Knight Rises. He?ll join Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy as Christopher Nolan completes the trilogy summer 2012.
But Joseph won?t be playing Robin or the Riddler, as was previously speculated. He?ll play Alberto Falcone, reports Variety. Alberto, the son of mafia kingpin Carmine Falcone, wasn?t allowed to get into the family business and was educated at Harvard and Oxford instead. Too bad some people are destined for crime. When Gotham?s notorious criminals end up dead, guess who?s behind all the murders and dubbed The Holiday Killer?

I have a hard time imagining JGL in his new role, seen here listening to his iPod while on a break from doing reshoots for Live With It (formerly I?m With Cancer). After watching him charm his way through 500 Days of Summer and Inception, I just can?t see him as a bloodthirsty killer. But hey, he looks damn good in a suit and a skinny tie, so maybe that will be enough? What do you think of his new role?
