Kate Walsh Feels 'Like a Loser' for Not Having Kids

She's the star of a hit TV show, but that's not enough to make Kate Walsh feel complete.

The Private Practice star says she's expected to be settled down and have kids by now.

"I feel like a loser [for not having kids]. I would definitely love to be a parent," Walsh, 43, tells More magazine, on newsstands Tuesday. "But I definitely don't think I want to do it on my own."

Walsh says she expected more of a balance between her Hollywood career and her personal life. "I thought I'd be married and have three or four kids," she admits. "I always knew I wanted to be an actress, but I think I always wanted a quote-unquote normal life."

The actress ? who calls her divorce from film exec Alex Young after just over a year of marriage "the worst thing ever" ? also says she's learned her lesson about taking things slow in her dating life.

Walsh and Young wed after a seven month courtship, but now the actress is less inclined to jump into things. "I've learned to seek other people's counsel more," she tells the magazine. "That's a good part of growing up."

As for aging in Hollywood, Walsh embraces the changes that life naturally brings as she gets older and she doesn't see the point in denying the march of time.

"It certainly requires you to take care of yourself. But I like to eat food, and I don't diet," she says. "I do Pilates, and hike with my dog. As you get older, everything changes. Everything starts getting ? looser. But I think it's important to accept that. I'm lucky. I've got pretty good genes. But I think it?s a weird thing to fight it."
