Konnie Huq was Blue Peter's longest-running female presenter
Konnie Huq is to be replaced as host of The Xtra Factor after just one series, it's been confirmed.
The former Blue Peter presenter took over from Holly Willoughby on The X Factor's sister show just last year, but Konnie's already leaving to work on a programme for the Discovery channel in America and Asia.
'We thank Konnie for her contribution to the Xtra Factor,' says a spokeswoman for production company TalkbackThames.
'We wish her all the very best for the future.'
Dancing On Ice star and ex-Nickelodeon presenter Laura Hamilton is rumoured be replacing Konnie as host of a new look Xtra Factor this year.
'I loved doing the Xtra Factor. It was so exciting,' Konnie, 35, tells the BBC.
'But I also cannot wait to start filming my new show for Discovery in China.'
