Take That singer Howard Donald has spent £50,000 on a sea plane even though he doesn't have his pilot's licence.
Take That's Howard Donald has spent £50,000 on a sea plane.
The 'Kidz' singer is believed to have bought a Progressive Aerodyne SeaRey, which is recommended for beginners, but it may be some time until he can fly it himself as he has been so busy recording and touring with the group he hasn't managed to take any lessons.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Howard is mad on flying and it's always been his ambition to fly and own a plane. He's gone about it the other way round and bought an amphibious plane before he's had some lessons. The tour has lined his pockets with some decent wedge, so he's splashed out.
He doesn't reckon he'll get his licence before 2013. Probably just in time for the next Take That tour.
"But any of his mates who were hoping for some 'Top Gun'-style trips with him will have to wait.

Howard - who has two daughters from previous relationships - joins a long line of celebrity flying enthusiasts including John Travolta and Angelina Jolie.
He is currently on the group's 'Progress Live' tour with his bandmates Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Robbie Williams.
