James Arness, who is best known for his role as Marshal Matt Dillon on the television show ?Gunsmoke? has died at 88.
Actor James Arness passed away on Friday of natural causes. He was 88.
His death comes just a year after his brother, ?Mission Impossible? actor Peter Graves, died of a heart attack at 83.
Arness got his first big break in 1947 when he starred with Loretta Young in the movie ?The Farmer?s Daughter?.
James later scored the role of Marshal Matt Dillon in Gunsmoke and was on the show 20 years, nominated for three Emmy awards.
The actor is survived by his wife Janet, three sons, and his three grandchildren.
